They rounded the set out with “Rosetta Stone” and a set-closing paring of “One Stop Shop” into Big Thief’s 2022 song “Time Escaping.” After much applause from a delighted New York crowd, Eggy returned for an encore of Billy Joel’s “Why Should I Worry.” They kicked off their main set with “Backyard Bear” and continued to jam into “Farthest Step” into “Shells.” Next came a fan-favorite cover of Elton John’s “Bennie And The Jets,” a song they played during their Halloween show, during which each member dressed in one of the Rocket Man’s iconic outfits. Last night, following the kick-off of Phish’s annual New Year’s Eve run at Madison Square Garden, Eggy, an exemplary Connecticut jamband, kept the party going into the night at The Cutting Room just a few blocks east.
